ChroNoct: Chronic Respiratory Disorder Prediction and Management through Contactless Remote Nocturnal Monitoring

ChroNoct is a European research project aiming at minimizing the burden on the healthcare system by the development and co-creation of a platform that monitors nocturnal vital health parameters, using radar-based contactless technology, for the early prediction, management, and diagnosis of chronic respiratory disorders amongst older adults.

Sleepiz One+ is an innovative, non-intrusive and non-wearable device used as the core technology for further development to achieve the project objectives. The device can be used within the comfort of one’s own home and is focused on measuring the following key physiological parameters during sleep:

  • Breathing rate
  • Heart rate
  • Body motion
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Sleep/Wake
  • Presence

The Sleepiz device hence ensures no sleep disruption, provides insight into one’s health status and allows for remote health monitoring so that long-term assessments and predictions can be made.

Objectives, expected results and impact

The global healthcare system is under immense pressure and the rising aging population adds to it. To minimise this added burden, a system needs to be in place that enables doctors to speed up their processes whilst enabling older individuals to stay healthy for longer. The prime objective of the ChroNoct project is to develop such a system and to predict, manage and diagnose chronic respiratory diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD); including exacerbation (worsening) of the disease.

Throughout the course of product development, progressive usability studies, surveys and interviews with all direct stakeholders will be performed to gather end-user requirements. Key end-users include older individuals (active at home and supported at home), caregivers and physicians (specialists and general practitioners). The main challenge is understanding all user requirements and promoting the platform to both doctors and older adults as adoptability may present itself as an obstacle. The requirements and issues provided by the end-users will be direct input for the product prototypes.

Integration of the platform into the current healthcare ecosystem is the ideal end-result and hence customisation of the product is a necessity.

Published Material

Regarding the update, as there will be more such PDFs to put under published material in the future, I am thinking it will be much simpler to just upload the pdf and not add any additional intro text. The sharing of news related to newly published items will be done by our project partner via LinkedIn.

So basically, that section with more than one pdf in the future could look like the below:

Published Material

  • [Month Year] Publishable item 3
  • [Month Year] Publishable item 2
  • [April 2023] ChroNoct Digital Brochure
