We are pleased to announce our collaboration with Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST), an education hub comprising of FHS St.Gallen, HSR Rapperswil, and NTB Buchs in Switzerland. Along with offering educational courses and services, the independent public university has a strong interdisciplinary focus on practice, research, and business. The project is part of a 1.14M CHF grant funded by the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse).
Sleepiz has partnered with the Institute for Electronics, Sensors, Actuators (ESA) for a research and development project in the field of radar systems. The collaborators will work closely with the Sleepiz hardware and sleep analytics teams to build upon signal processing models, including developing algorithms for detection of vital signs and experimental validation of such algorithms. Combining OST’s broad network and expertise with Sleepiz’s domain knowledge, our two organizations look forward to leveraging research capabilities to produce reliable and accurate detection algorithms.
The collaborators, from a background of experience in the field of radar systems, electronics and controls engineer, as well as data analysis and machine learning, will participate in this project. The following three would be participating on the forefront of the research along with a few others:
Michael Gottinger is an alumnus of the Technical University of Munich, where he studied electrical engineering and information technology. He comes with experience working as a scientific assistant at Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg in Germany, before joining the OST team earlier this year.
Samuel Josef Kranz completed his education in electrical and electronics engineering and industrial technologies from NTB Interstate University of Technology (later acquired by OST). Since his education, he has been a part of NTB’s research team and now OST’s research team, where he continues conducting applied R&D.
Nicola Notari comes with a physics background from ETH Zurich. He has furthermore worked with a consulting company, where he dealt with modelling and data analysis in the field of energy and the environment. Nicola has been working with the Institute for Computational Engineering at OST as a research assistant since 2019.
About Us
Sleepiz AG (Ltd.) is a Zürich based startup with a mission to provide patient-centric disease management through seamless integration of contactless monitoring into people’s homes. Sleepiz leverages the power of sleep insights with a device that is simply placed on the bedside table. The device operates in a non-contact fashion and measures movements originating from heart contractions and breathing patterns, as well as body motions with medical grade accuracy.
While currently focusing on respiratory illnesses, Sleepiz aims to improve people’s lives by creating the future of healthcare. By making use of wireless millimeter wave technology, sensor fusion and artificial intelligence, in the future Sleepiz will not only be able to diagnose sleep disorders but also perform long-term monitoring. Thereby, the progression of chronic diseases will be monitored to allow faster intervention and better treatment.
Sleepiz is touching lives without touching.
